BLUEGRASS CAMPS ONE and TWO
AT HIDDEN PARADISE
LONG PINE, NE
Camp one is usually the 2nd week in June, Camp two is the 3d week of June
Enjoy trout fishing, tubing and the ambiance of Nebraska’s beautiful Pine Creek and receive 4 days of instruction with 2 time national banjo champion (and Nebraska rock and roll hall of fame inductee, and 2006 Mayor’s Arts award recipient) Steve Hanson. Along with professional teacher, musician, "Sir Gigalot", "Mr Fiddle" , Terry Keefe.
Camp will be split into 2 groups, a morning and an afternoon. The morning session will run from approx. 9:30 to noon. The afternoon will start at 1 and go until 3:30. When you are not in session feel free to enjoy what the area has to offer in outdoor activities. The evenings are open for more leisurely jam sessions around the campfire.
The climate in June is ideal and Pine Creek is one of Nebraska’s premiere trout streams. Steve is an avid fly angler and will be available for fishing advice also. If you don’t fish, the Cowboy trail is nearby for hiking and biking as are numerous other wildlife areas. The Niobrara River (a designated wild and scenic river), offering great canoeing is less than an hour away. Two golf courses are within 10 miles complete with the amenities that only the Sandhills can offer.
The camp ends with a performance by participants at the Long Pine Day celebration.
Individual instruction is also available upon request.
